This Old House Names Best New Lighting Fixtures

When This Old House selected its Best New Products of 2010, the home improvement magazine took special notice of the new lighting fixtures and technologies that are now available. Topping the list of the best LED light bulbs for everyday applications are versatile 40W bulbs from GE and Lighting Science Group and efficient 60W bulbs from Philips and Lemnis Lighting. Prices may seem high, ranging from $19-$50, but the magazine points out that each of these LED bulbs will “last longer than your mortgage.”

Another trend among the best lighting fixtures is traditional designs upgraded with LED technology, proving you don’t have to sacrifice looks for energy efficiency or quality. Examples highlighted include the bronze-finished filigree pattern Franceasi LED Lantern by Kichler for outdoor lighting and the industrial-style globe-shaped Hood Hanging Fixture by Rejuvenation.

Lastly, This Old House recognizes Panasonic’s WhisperGreen-Lite Bath Exhaust fan, which turns on and off automatically when it senses motion.
