Fixture Comparison: Wall Sconce

Ever wonder why similar style fixtures are so different in cost?

Both fixtures shown below have a very clean lined contemporary look, however option B is double the price of option A.

Wall Sconces

Fixture A

This fixture is only available in a Satin Nickel Finish with  a Frosted Glass overlay, which may reveal the lamp inside. The lamp used in this fixture is a 9W Twin Tube Compact Fluorescent. This would create a diffuse light. However, the 9W lamp is not able to be dimmed.

Fixture B

This fixture is available in more finish options including Polished Chrome, Satin Nickel and Bronze and also offers multiple diffuser finish options. The lamps used in this fixture are (2) 26W Quad Fluorescent that provide greater light output. The light from this fixture will have a more consistent diffuse distribution and has almost 3x the lumen output than Fixture A. With a dimmable ballast, this fixture can be dimmed.

Even though these fixtures are very similar in appearance, the differences in quality can be seen through the finish options available, lamps used and the craftsmanship of the piece.
